Southern Cross Centre
December 2022 / January 2023 Update
Dear Southern Cross Centre Family,
As we approach the end of 2022, we have so much to be thankful for. First, we thank our Heavenly Father for sending His Son to earth and whose birth we celebrate in December. Second, we are thankful for the privilege of being part of a wonderful spiritual family at Southern Cross Centre. Third, we are happy to see Covid-19 restrictions end and gradually return to the freedoms we so easily take for granted.
The year ahead promises to be a time of exploring greater engagement with the community around us. This will be a time of increasing deployment. For four years, our focus has been to build solid foundations of community and equipping our leaders for the work of ministry. In the past several months, staff changes have released more volunteers into our leadership team. On Sunday 11 December, Rinna and Kenyon Bowyer will be commissioned and sent out from SCC into a new arena for ministry.
In early January, we begin stage two of our church renovations. This will bring extensive and welcome changes to our outdoor fellowship area, kitchen and church foyer. We are also looking for a portable structure/classroom/office to increase space for our kids, youth and other activities.
Finally, on behalf of our leadership team, we wish you and your family a very Happy Christmas as we approach a New Year filled with hope and growth in our walk with God.

SCC Health and Safety Training
At SCC we want to promote a healthy and safe environment and work hard to comply with workplace health and safety laws that provide benefits for our whole congregation.
All staff, volunteers, and elders will receive an email link to complete training in SCC Emergency Evacuation Procedures. Thank you to those of you who have already completed this training.
Safe Ministry Checks
All staff, volunteers, and elders will also be invited by email to complete mandatory Safe Ministry Check training. This training will ensure that SCC is compliant with Safe Church/Child Protection policies and that everyone’s Working With Children and National Police Clearances are up to date.
Please contact Marg Olsen at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any enquiries.
Southern Cross Kids
A Holiday Programme for SCK will be available each Sunday during the month of January.
We need volunteers who have a Working With Children’s Check to help out at this time, so we can give our hard-working SCK ministry team a well-deserved break. Please contact Bronwen at email@example.com if you would like to volunteer.
Church Office Christmas Break
The Church Office will close at 2pm on 23 December 2022 and reopen at 9am on 4 January 2023.
Dear SCC Family,
"To prepare our hearts for Christmas, we need to cultivate the spirit of expectancy; peace with God, peace with others, and peace in your own heart. The good news of great joy changed the course of every silent night to come. The story of Christmas is the story of God's relentless love for us." ~ Anonymous
Luke 2:14 - "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men."
May our hearts be lifted in praise this Christmas for the amazing gift of Jesus and the joy, hope, and love He brings to our lives.
God bless you always,
