November 2023 to January 2024 Update
Dear SCC Family,
Wow, what a year 2023 has been! Some very positive changes have taken place within the SCC Family:
- The long-awaited completion of building renovations at 13 Wallington Road.
- Welcoming Mr Kierohn Sims from Auckland as our new Worship, Youth and Young Adults coordinator.
- Preparing for deployment projects to commence in the coming year.
- Broadening participation in our Leadership Community
- Concluding our Sermon Series on Luke and beginning a new Series on I and II Corinthians
- Moving SCC toward more of a volunteer culture in administration, building and property maintenance, and leading the ministries of the church
- Welcoming Mr David Kranjec as a volunteer associate to assist as may be required.
As summer tends to be a time of reset and recreation, we will combine our monthly updates for November, December, and January. Please carefully note the information in this letter. Thank you.

SCC Office
The Church Office will be closed during the Christmas holidays from 23 December to 2 January 2024.
We wish to thank Mrs Bronwen Raeburn for her services as our church receptionist for the past five years. Bronwen is stepping down from administration and reception duties, effective 18 October, and will continue to be part of the SCC family.
We wish Bronwen well in her future pursuits. You can communicate with our leadership team by ringing our office number on (08) 6154 2921 or emailing reception@southerncrosscentre.org.au
Please leave a message if the office is unattended and it will be sent to a staff member to be actioned.
SCC Renovations Update
As our renovations have been completed, please remember to use our new front entry doors to access the church when attending meetings and Sunday services.
SCC Leadership Community
Our last Leadership Community Meeting for the year will be on Wednesday 8 November commencing 6.00pm at Southern Cross Centre.
To celebrate everyone's hard work over the year of our Church and Leadership Community, we would like to finish off the year with a BBQ! Please note, all LC Members must RSVP to Marg office.admin@southerncrosscentre.org.au by 31 October 2023 to attend this event.
In 2024 the SCC Leadership Community meetings will recommence on Wednesday 14 February.
Men With A Purpose
Men With a Purpose will meet on Wednesday 23 November at 6.00pm for dinner ($10 pp) for a 7.00pm start. Our speaker will be Kierohn Sims.
Men With A Purpose Meetings will recommence on 28 February 2024.
Prayer in the Sanctuary
Prayer in the Sanctuary continues, every Tuesday afternoon from 5.00pm to 6.00pm. Everyone is welcome!
Tuesday Prayer Meetings will be in recess from 28 November 2023.
Going Deeper with John McElroy
This group delves more deeply into Apostolic Christianity and our direction at Southern Cross Centre. It is open to everyone and includes teaching, discussion, and Spirit-led ministry. Going Deeper is on Thursdays from 4.30pm to 6.00pm in the church sanctuary.
Going Deeper will be in recess from 30 November 2023.
Morning Delight – Home Groups – Youth
These ministries operate during school terms and will be in recess from 15 December 2023 until 30 January 2024.
They will recommence on the first week of school.
Welcome, Kierohn!
We wish to formally welcome Mr Kierohn Sims to our Leadership Team, giving particular oversight to our Worship, Youth and Young Adults area.
He has been serving as a pastor for the past five years at Mairangi Bay Christian Fellowship, an independent evangelical church in Auckland. Kierohn has been hired for a six-month probationary leadership role, after which, a determination will be made for his ongoing employment.
At this Christmas we pause to express our gratitude to God for His guidance, protection, and generous provision over the past year.
Most of all, we thank the Father for sending Jesus to earth, in the fullness of time, to be our Lord and Saviour.
On behalf of the entire SCC Leadership Team, we wish you a restful and joyous Christmas and thank you for your ongoing prayers, support and service as we enter the new year of 2024.
